Location: Stafford, Staffordshire or Handforth, Cheshire
Job Type: Full-Time (Part-Time Considered)
Salary: Competitive, Based on Experience
About Croft Architecture
At Croft Architecture, we’re not just architects—we’re development enablers. We work holistically with clients to unlock the true potential of building sites, guiding them from vision to delivery. Based in Stafford and Handforth, we are renowned for our thoughtful design solutions, integrity, and ability to make complex developments smoother for our clients.
We are currently looking for an experienced Architect to join our close-knit, passionate team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with a minimum of five years post-qualification UK experience to be a key part of diverse and rewarding projects—from bespoke domestic extensions to multi-unit residential developments.
The Role
You will play a hands-on role across all stages of a project—from initial client briefings and concept design through to technical detailing, planning, and construction support.
Your strong design eye, technical capability, and natural rapport-building skills will make you an invaluable member of our growing practice.
This is an office-based role, and you will be expected to work from either our Stafford or Handforth studio. While we favour a full-time candidate, we are open to discussing part-time arrangements for the right person.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an architect who is:
- UK-qualified with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in recent UK practice.
- A well-rounded professional: strong design sensibility, robust technical understanding, and confident with RIBA work stages 0–7.
- Comfortable working on a variety of project types, including smaller-scale domestic jobs and larger developments up to 20 dwellings.
- An effective communicator, able to lead conversations with clients, understand their needs, and translate briefs into clear design intent.
- Experienced in small architectural practices—able to thrive in collaborative settings and pitch in across different roles when required.
- Genuinely honest and dependable—we value integrity above all else. You must do what you say, avoid overstatement, and act responsibly at all times.
- Self-aware and realistic about your abilities, workload, and professional goals.
Key Requirements
- ARB registered (RIBA chartership beneficial).
- Strong portfolio of UK-based work, ideally showing both design and technical delivery.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (Revit a plus, but not essential).
- Full UK work rights and a valid driving licence (occasional site visits required).
- Able to work on site and in studio—this is not a remote or hybrid position.
What We Offer
- A positive, respectful and collaborative working culture.
- Opportunities to work on varied and stimulating projects.
- Flexible working hours (within agreed parameters).
- Realistic workloads and professional expectations.
- Ongoing professional development support.
